Thursday, March, 26, 2026: Roundtable Discussion: Designing Oral Assessments
Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 12pm AEST
Join us for a discussion focused on designing oral assessment tasks. With an increased focus on ‘secure assessment’ at universities in our regions, we know that many legal educators are thinking about incorporating oral assignments as a way of ensuring our students are ‘doing the work’. We also know we can learn a lot from colleagues who have already taken on this challenge. We are hosting an informal round table discussion on Zoom for anyone interested in the topic. Dr Sebastián Rioseco will start the discussion by explaining how he runs an oral final exam for almost 100 students in his international law subject in Chile at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile – Facultad de Derecho. With this as our initial inspiration, we will brainstorm the opportunities and challenges of designing a variety of oral assessments that will meet learning objectives and the push for more secure assessment.
